However, when things get dire, it is the resources in reserve that help maintain order. You’ll want to increase your storage limits to have more breathing room, and here’s how to do that in Anno 117: Pax Romana.

How to Upgrade Storages in Anno 117 Pax Romana

You might even be asking yourself, “Is it even possible to upgrade your storage limits?” The answer is yes, and there are only two main ways to do it, and they revolve around research upgrades.

The research or discoveries you are looking for are the following:

  • Trading Post Improvements (twice)
  • Depots
  • Deep Depots

Trading Posts are your first and main building on any island that deals with trading. You can upgrade your Trading Post to improve the speed of trades while naturally increasing your island’s storage capacity by 75 for each resource. Remember to manually upgrade your trading posts on each island after finishing the research.

There are two Trading Post Improvement research available on the economic side of the research tree, so you can increase the storage limits by up to 150 through Trading Post upgrades alone.

When you finish researching Depot, you can go to the construction tab and go to the Harbour Buildings category. Look for the “Depot” and place it anywhere along the shore of your island. It doesn’t even need to be by the Trading Post side, and it doesn’t need a road connected to it either.

A Depot increases your island’s storage capacity by another 75. Since there’s another research upgrade called “Deep Depots,” which increases the Depot limit to two for each island, you can increase the total storage capacity by another 150. However, Deep Depots is near the end of the economic research tree, so it’ll take a while for you to get it.

These nodes are some of the best research to get in the Economic tree as well.

How to Avoid Warehouse Congestion in Anno 117 Pax Romana

While discussing storage limits, you should also pay attention to congestion in your storage, specifically in warehouses. When too many production buildings use the same Warehouses, congestion can occur when workers need a resource from the warehouse and must fall in line, causing a temporary halt on other production lines.

As you may have seen in previous research upgrades, the Trading Post Improvement research also helps reduce congestion by allowing more ramps for trades. For Warehouses, there are Warehouse Organisation and Warehouse Refinement upgrades to help with congestion by adding more ramps for usage.

However, this does not increase your storage limits, so keep that in mind. When you get these upgrades, upgrade your Warehouses to reap the benefits of the research.

If you are still having problems with Warehouse congestion, you can position the Warehouses conveniently at the end of each production chain. If a raw resource from a production building has a clear road, its next process in the production cycle, it’ll skip the Warehouse completely. This allows the Warehouse ramps to specifically load finished products as much as possible.

If it is still a problem or the logistics are just too hard, you can just add more Warehouses.
