There was plenty to like during the RGG Summit 2025 showcase hosted by SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. Yakuza Kiwami 3, Dark Ties, and a behind-the-scenes look at Stranger Than Heaven? That’s all amazing. Sadly, one announcement left everyone a bit disappointed, and it relates to the beloved Yakuza 0.

Yakuza 0 is now the default entry point for anyone interested in the franchise, and it’s an incredible game in its own right. SEGA recently released a Director’s Cut for the Switch 2, which is finally getting a PC and console release, but there is a caveat. If you already own Yakuza 0, there is no upgrade path available, and you’ll have to buy the Director’s Cut separately.

Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut was announced for the Nintendo Switch 2 during the dedicated hardware Direct, and it’s the definitive version of the classic Yakuza prequel. The origin story of some of the series’ most beloved characters is also getting a full English voiceover.

As ever, we’re using these (definitely entirely serious) awards to shine a light on the games and gaming events of the year.

Here at PC Invasion HQ, we feel that traditional Game of the Year awards are very nebulous, subjective, and silly. As such, we instead embrace the silliness full-on and dish out awards like “Worst Dad”, “Best Game We Can Make You Buy Using Only GIFs”, and “Best Giant Stone Dongs.”

Now, however, after a thirteen-year stint as a console exclusive, the series is finally making its debut on PC, starting with the 2015 prequel Yakuza 0.

The Yakuza series has been a Sony exclusive (bar a strange occurrence where HD remasters of the first two titles appeared on the Wii U) since its debut. Something which Sega seemed determined to never step back from. In time, the company started to renege on their console exclusives — bringing select titles to the PC; Valkyria Chronicles and House of the Dead Overkill, among others.

Delve deep into the world of the Yakuza in Sega’s latest entry in the long-running series.

This Yakuza 0 guide will evolve over time to over all of the main aspects of the game, providing strategies for the toughest fights and side activities. Yakuza 0 has been available in Japan for quite some time, but if finally released in the US and other parts of the world on January 24, 2017. The PlayStation 4 game serves as a prequel to the previous games in the long-running Yakuza series from Sega.

As an open world action game, Yakuza 0 has a lot of combat, with a plethora or story to go through as young Kazuma Kiryu dabbles in the ways of the Yakuza. As you progress through the game you will learn new ways to beat down enemies. You can level up your character giving Kiryu improved stats and more fighting power. In order to level up you need to spend money, which you get from completing tasks, taking on street fights and simply progressing through the game. Don’t spend your cash recklessly and you’ll have a very powerful character early in the game.

Learn how to defeat Kuze when you fight him as a boss in Yakuza 0.

At the end of Chapter 1 in Yakuza 0 you face off against Daisaku Kuze, the first boss of the game. The battles leading up to Kuze can be hard, but once you actually get to Kuze the fight is even more difficult. If you’re not prepared you may find it tough to surpass. This article will give you some strategies on how to defeat Kuze the first boss battle in Yakuza 0.

Defeat the Dojima Family

Before you get to Kuze you’ll have to face off against many of the lesser members of the Dojima family. While you can probably just mash your way through the horde of enemies you’ll face, ideally you want to fight wisely so you can conserve your healing items for Kuze himself. Don’t get too reckless as you fight these lesser enemies or you’ll end up blowing through your healing items. If you have some cash to spare, it’s always a good idea to upgrade your heal in the Abilities menu, or pick up some healing items from a vending machine.
